In March 2014 Ukrainian metal companies decreased gas consumption

In March metal companies consumed 240 million cubic meters of gas, down by 4.4%, or 11 million cubic meters, MoM.

Average daily gas consumption by metal companies totaled 7.8 million cubic meters.

In February gas consumption by Ukrainian metal companies decreased by 3.4%, or 9 million cubic meters, to 251 million cubic meters, to January levels. (Ukrainian metal)

Zaporizhstal decreased gas consumption in Q1 2014

In January-March Zaporizhstal, a part of the Metinvest group, decreased its gas consumption by 18%, or 13.8 million cubic meters, YoY, from 75.4 million to 61.6 million cubic meters.

This allowed the company to save 41.3 million UAH.

While gas consumption in the first quarter of the current year decreased, output volumes increased by 5% YoY.

In 2013 Zaporizhstal decreased gas consumption by 29%, or around 100 million cubic meters, in comparison with 2012, from 332 million cubic meters to 236 million cubic meters. (Ukrainian metal)

In January-August Ukrainian metal companies consumed 1.38 billion cubic meters of gas, down by 22% YoY.

In August average daily gas consumption fell from 5 million cubic meters in July to 4.9 million. In January-August the average daily gas consumption totaled 5.7 million cubic meters as opposed to 7.3 million YoY.

Gas consumption fall was caused by the decrease in metal output: in January-August Ukrainian metal companies decreased steel production by 24% YoY, to 15.04 million tons. Metal output drop in its turn was the result of the military activities in the East. (Ukrainian metal)

Ukraine: metal consumption, export and import down in January-September 2015

In January-September Ukrainian metal companies decreased their domestic sales by 21.7% YoY, to 1.96 million tons (13.1% of the total output) from 2.5 million tons (13.3%) in January-September 2014.

Rolled metal export share reached 86.9% of the total export volumes (86.7% in 2014).

Metal export decreased by 20.5% YoY, to 12.94 million tons. Billets share decreased from 45.5% to 44.6%, that of rolled sheet – from 31.2% to 30%. At the same time long rolled metal exports increased from 23.3% to 25.4%.

Billet imports share in January-September fell from 6.3% to 1.3%, while that of rolled sheet increased from 71.5% to 75.2% and that of long rolled products – from 22.2% to 23.5%.

In the given period metal companies consumed 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, down by 19% YoY. An average daily consumption fell by 1.3 million cubic meters YoY, to 5.7 million cubic meters. Metal companies also consumed 9.2 billion kW-h, down by 14% YoY. (Ukrainian metal)

Average daily gas consumption in December 2016 went up by 0.9 million cubic meters MoM, to 6.1 million cubic meters.

In 2016 average daily consumption totaled 4.8 million cubic meters of gas as opposed to 5.5 million in 2015.

Electricity consumption increased by 4% YoY, to 12.9 billion kW-h.

In 2015 Ukrainian metal companies consumed 2.015 billion cubic meters of gas and 12.4 billion kW-h of electricity, all down by 19% and 13% YoY respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
